Music Together of Olympia brings family music classes into the popular Hands On Children’s Museum, letting families pair a “mommy & me” style music class with museum playtime. The program offers mixed-age classes for children from birth to five alongside their caregivers. Sessions run in seasonal nine-week blocks (with a shorter summer term) and follow official Music Together® song collections that blend original music with traditional folk, jazz, and world tunes. Class time is highly interactive: adults sit in the circle and sing, tap rhythms, and dance with their children as the teacher models playful ways to explore tempo, pitch, and movement. The goal is not to create little performers but to help families feel comfortable making music together in everyday life. Families receive a songbook and digital music access, and the museum setting makes it easy to turn class into a longer outing with additional sensory and exploratory play afterward.
