Music Together by the Bay has been offering family music classes in Whatcom County since 2005, making it one of the longest-running “mommy & me” music programs in the region. The center provides the Music Together® curriculum to families with children ages 0–6, with mixed-age classes held at Whatcom Family Village and outdoor locations such as Elizabeth Park during warmer months. Each session invites parents, grandparents, and caregivers to join children on the floor to sing, dance, and play rhythm instruments. The teacher leads families through playful activities that support both musical growth and social-emotional development. Because classes are intentionally non-performance-oriented, even shy adults and wiggly toddlers are welcome to participate at their own comfort level. Families receive take-home materials and encouragement to keep using the songs throughout the week, helping kids experience music as a normal part of daily life rather than a special event. The program also periodically offers themed events and Generations classes that connect families with older adults.
