Chickadee Music Together serves families in Ballard, Phinney Ridge, Greenwood, and Crown Hill with mixed-age Music Together® classes for children from birth through age five and their grown-ups. Classes meet in cozy neighborhood venues like Ballard Homestead and the Phinney Center, which gives the experience a community-living-room feel rather than a formal studio vibe. Each weekly class invites parents and caregivers to sit on the floor with their babies and toddlers, singing, bouncing, and dancing together. The teacher leads families through songs in different tonalities and meters, fingerplays, lap bounces, and simple instrument jams using egg shakers, rhythm sticks, and drums. Adults are encouraged to sing out, even if they don’t feel “musical,” because children learn musical confidence by watching the grown-ups they love participate. Families get a songbook and digital music to use at home so the same tunes can show up in car rides and bedtime routines, extending the benefits beyond the classroom.
